The Bee Story

Busy Bees & The Landlord

A Little Bit About Me & The Bees

Here at Hidden Hollow Apiaries we’ve been robbing the bees since 2010. Don’t worry, we’re being fair. We’ve set up each hive in a primary location, painted with it's own unique design and colors. Its the roomiest hive a colony of bee’s could ever want.

Just like with people, this prime bee real estate comes with a few expenses. They trade their honey for the lovely accommodations we've provided. So, you could say, our little visits to their pantry is the bees way of paying rent.

They don’t seem to mind too much and keep right on adding to their stores until the weather turns cold in the fall. In fact, I stop robbing the bees in early September so they have plenty of time to re-stock their pantry before winter. They're such good little workers they usually provide enough honey for me to sell all winter.

You see, I’m not really a “bee keeper” because the bees pretty much keep themselves. I’m more of a landlord. I set the bees up in a nice home with plenty of flowers nearby and they happily pay me from their excess honey.

Of course, no one is ever happy to see the landlord when the rent is due and bees are no exception. So I dress up real formal like, in my best bee suit, before I go knocking on the hive doors. That way they know it's an official visit and not just a chance encounter, like when we bump into each other out in the yard. Let’s just say that collecting the excess honey is not always a walk in the park and living with an apiary as your closest neighbor has it’s challenges.

They keep me busy… and I love it!

Thank you so much for supporting your local apiary and keeping the honey bees happy.
